Troubleshooting Issues with Substrates and Pressing

  1. Cotton decoration is possible through a chemical bond between Sawgrass ink and cotton fibers.  The substrate needs to be 100% cotton.  If the textile is not 100% cotton, the resulting image will be poor.

  1. Also note that ChromaBlast inks are actually transparent; therefore, a white substrate is the best background for the full color range to be visible. Any other background color will affect the appearance of the image.  For example, if you attempt to press the color pink on a pink shirt, it will essentially be invisible.  An image pressed onto a yellow t-shirt will have a yellow cast over the entire image.   An image will not be seen if attempting to sublimate onto dark shirts such as navy or black.
  1. Be sure you are using the time, temperature and pressure recommended for ChromaBlast.

  2. The quality of the pressed image is dependent on the quality of the weave.  A high-grade, smooth fabric yields the best results.  Experiment with various brands to determine the optimal type for you and your customers.

  3. If you have been able to determine the issue is with your substrate and are unable to resolve the problem, please contact Sawgrass technical support.

Important! Before producing a job, we recommend you run a series of tests (including washing) to verify that every aspect of the process is working properly.
