Setting Up Your Sublimation Printer

Epson 4880Once you've confirmed that you are in possession of all system components, it is time to set up your sublimation printer. Before proceeding, please keep in mind the following:

  1. It is absolutely imperative that you follow each and every step presented in the installation instructions in order to ensure success.
  2. Sublimation systems rely on the user following each set-up step in the order presented to prevent installation errors. Do not ignore or skip steps.
  3. While it might seem tedious to follow the set-up instructions for some systems, doing so will help eliminate system breakdown, wasted ink and ruined products.

SubliJet IQ Set-Up Instructions

The following links will guide you through the set-up of your SubliJet IQ™ sublimation system. It is essential that you not skip any steps. If you have any questions or run into any issues during the set-up procedure, please do not hesitate to contact our technical support call center for assistance.

Step One - Set Up Epson Printer & Inks
Follow completely the installation instructions based on the system you've purchased. For comprehensive, step-by-step instructions about how to set up your printer and inks (including a bulk system), please download the appropriate SubliJet IQ Support Documentation (there are usually at least two files for each current system).

Step Two - Download & Install PowerDriver
Download the proper PowerDriver print driver based on the system you've purchased. To locate the installation file, click here. Complete instructions for the installation, registration and use of PowerDriver are located within the Getting Started Guide which you should have downloaded in Step One. Please note, your printer should be turned on with inks loaded before beginning this step.

Step Three - Configure Graphics Software Color Management
Whatever professional graphics software you're currently working with (Corel or Adobe), you will need to disable all color management for SubliJet IQ inks. Please visit the SubliJet IQ Color Management section for step-by-step instructions.

Step Four - Test System with Nozzle Check
Once your inks are loaded into your printer, your PowerDriver is installed and registered, and you've turned off your color management settings in your graphics software, it is time to test the printer output. The fastest way to do this is through a printer utility called a nozzle check. A nozzle check is a procedure where the printer lays down a simple pattern using all color nozzles from each print heads. This pattern will tell the user whether the printer is ready to produce transfers or whether there are any clogs in any of the nozzles. For step-by-step instructions on nozzle checks, please visit the SubliJet Nozzle Check section.

Step Five - Do the Essentials
If your nozzle check comes out clean, your sublimation system set-up is complete and ready to be used. Much as you'd look at a map before driving to an unknown location, we recommend that you perform some essentials that will help you get better quality transfers and produce the colors you want. Please visit the Essential How To's section now.
