Outdoor Sublimation Is Here

Sublimation has long been a decorating technology best used for indoor applications. Like many kinds of inks used for imprinting, sublimation inks react to UV light, which causes fading over time in outdoor conditions.

With new types of sublimation panels on the market, product decorators now have the ability to make headway into markets where outdoor imaging is in demand. There are many applications for sublimated products that are regularly exposed to sunlight, not the least of which is outdoor signage.

ChromaLuxe EXT Panels

Universal Woods has developed ChromaLuxe EXT aluminum panels, which are resistant to UV light, scratches, wind, graffiti, chemicals and impact. ChromaLuxe has built its brand on the reliability and high-definition image quality its aluminum panels deliver. The new EXT panels promise the same color, pop and durability, in addition to extended life under consistent exposure to the elements.

ChromaLuxe EXT panels are currently available with a gloss finish, and come in a wide range of standard sizes from 5” x 7” to 40” x 60.” Depending on the inks used and the application (photographic reproduction or signage), ChromaLuxe rates these panels as being resistant to UV light for between two and four years.

Applications and Possibilities

Outdoor sublimation applications for these substrates center on photo installations, artistic decoration, outdoor exhibitions, landmark placards, point-of-interest or educational signs, branded signage for businesses/organizations and other signage or decorative purposes.

Sawgrass inks enhance the durability of these substrates with four- and eight-color formulations and the capabilities for professional photo and fine art reproduction, an expanded gamut of colors and true fluorescents. Because our inks are manufactured to the highest standards of quality, end users can depend on them when they need high-definition images, neutral blacks, fine gradients, natural skin tones and deep, rich colors for outdoor sublimation applications.
